Regional Conference of the Sister Cities Organization

Sister Cities Regional Conference hosted by SCAVC 

Volusia County, January 22, 2000  

Michael O'Neill and Sister Cities of Volusia County hosted a regional meeting of the local organizations here at the Hilton on January 22, 2000. The whole board was involved in preparations which were being coordinated by Mary Lou Deeley with advice and help from Jennie Celona and Betty and Nancy Nelson. The theme of the meeting was, "Let's Put the Pieces Together."

The event was held from 10-3,  and the activities included the sharing of projects, and nuts and bolts work for the region including budget, calendar, dues and the like. State president Pat Buchanan and regional coordinator, Cheryl Lawson- Young were present for this work. The speaker, after a delicious plated deli lunch, was Victor Ostrowidzki, an accomplished former journalist and international observer and traveler, now the head of the Political Forum at Flagler College.

The event was a complete success!  Sister Cities Association of Volusia County was well represented, and so were the associations of Titusville and Mount Dora.
