Mission Statement

Michael O'Neill, Former President

Sister Cities of Volusia County

Sister Cities Association of Volusia County, Inc. was formed in 1993 for the purpose of promoting international friendship, understanding, and cooperation between the people of Volusia County, their cultural, educational, religious, economic, and professional communities and organizations, and the people, their corresponding communities and organizations of associated sister cities.

Our association is a voluntary, not-for-profit corporation registered with the Florida Department of State, and is a member of the Association of Sister Cities of Florida and Sister Cities International in Washington, DC.  The articles of incorporation and bylaws provide a flexible framework for the maintenance and development of our association.  Under that umbrella, the individual members participate in subcommittees and groups which organize high school student exchanges, tour groups to our sister cities, reciprocal visits of official delegations and other groups from our sister cities, cultural and educational programs, as well as communication between us all.

We foster the existing sister city relationship between Volusia County and the city and province of Campeche, Mexico, and between the city of Daytona Beach and Bayonne, France.

We coordinate our work and programs with the state and national organizations. Our members are encouraged to initiate additional areas of international communication and cooperation, as well as participating in our present programs and exchange visits.
